okay, so

really brief question: do you ever think there's some really fucked-up gender thing going on in ABA environments, given that it's usually a bunch of young women who are telling male children and teenagers how to act, talk, and think?

I'm not sure if I'm joking or not.

  1. I worked at an ultra-fascist ABA-style school for two years, and the staff ratio was heavily gender stratified towards women. It always pissed me off when the (almost exclusively) female teachers wouldn't let the boys engage in completely age and gender-typical play with guns/swords/etc.

The thing that was very good about that school's environment, however, was that it was very GLBT-friendly, and little boys holding hands with other little boys didn't raise too many eyebrows.

  2. That's a really interesting question. I can't really say one way or another though, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
